My ideas was to have a changing color palette from morning, Day, to Night. Something very subtle but it does give you the mood of morning to night or a feel of waking up and winding down into the night time for bed.
I think that you should try to make the emphasis even more with the colors as in maybe the buttons or imagery in the background or night could be almost something like inverted.
I think the buttons and swoosh on the left look too big. The oval button looks kind of dated as well. Perhaps, you can decrease the size of those and make the content the dominant aspect of the page.
